I base my assumptions on the engine rpm values. When I use full throttle in sport mode and the engine is going at 2000...3000 rpm, there should be room for shifting to a lower gear. The engine power increases with the rpm (2x power at 4000 rpm vs. 2000 rpm) and despite of the nice torque values, acceleration would be improved by running the engine closer to 4500 rpm than to 2000 rpm.
Sometimes the gearbox works as I would expect and sometimes it doesn't - but I'm not sure if the initial speed/gear is what makes the difference.
I like the car, but after 2.5 years, I could use yet another 50 or 100 hp (and 4WD). Too bad they aren't making the 9-X (not that 300 hp were enough ;-)
