Extended Warranty dilemma. Is it worth it?..Please read

I have a 2001 Aero and am at 39K miles. GM has agreed to make an exception and let me buy the GM BB extended warranty since i bought the car as a demo. I am targeting the 36 month/45K Mile warranty. This is really a 28 month 35K warranty since it starts now and not after my 48 month 50K mile ends.
Cost with deductibles of $50, $100, 200 are $2395, $2220, $1945, respectively.
Is it worth it if I am covered only an additional ~2.3 years? My big concern is electrical (Including DI and SID..both of which i recently replaced). I guess I am assuming that I will have at least 2 major fixes during this time (>$2K). Any comments on the odds of that or typical other fixes would be great.
Further, i have heard from some that the dealership and GM usually cover you up to 60K miles if the fix > $500. If this is the case then warranty only gives me another ~8K miles. Of course, i'm sure this is case by case and there is no way to be sure they will cover it.
Anyway, any thoughts on this would be great, including if i do go with it, is GM the best to have. I have read others say they wish they had the GM due to coverage or backruptcy issues of their providers.
Thanks in advance...
