24K and change, Saab certified. More than I would have spent if I did some looking, but it was one of those cases where the exact car I wanted (color and options) had just come into the dealership. After a point you know they can see you want it and it's not worth haggling much more.
It is an amazing car, everything I had hoped for in terms of performance with refinement. I took my wife out for a ride last night to show her its, um, "capabilities". I knew the acceleration and cornering would impress her, but the braking power really caught her notice. It also caught the notice of some young squid on a crotch rocket behind me.
I was going through a twisty part of town at a good clip, with this guy a ways back. I came around a corner to a double row of cars on both sides of the street where a party was in progress. I hit the binders hard with no problem, but the kid came around behind me fast, not paying too close attention, and obviously undermatched in terms of riding ability for his bike. He smoked his tires, fishtailed, and almost highsided off the bike. About a mile later he passed me and two other cars on a blind corner with a double line. Another young, inexperienced candidate for a Darwin award.
