problem with the load leveling system

I have a 2000 9-5 Gary Fisher Wagon with the load-leveling system. The shocks failed at 1000 miles and the dealer replaced both the shocks and springs. I now have 45,000 miles on the car and when the cargo area is loaded with gear, the rear drivers side sags several inches. I'm assuming the shock on that side needs to be replaced but here are my questions: Can I put new shocks on without new springs or does the load-leveling kit come as a package? Am I better off going with aftermarket shocks and springs or keeping with Saab's load leveling system? Anyone had similar problems??
