Mike, you are not going to change the cave man logic posted above by deltabravo. DO we still adjust the spark advance and choke the engine by hand, or get out and hand crank it? If he believes that manual shifting is "safer" because he is more "involved" in driving,chances are nothing you or I can say will change his mind. I don't happen to agree with you about the benefits of the paddle shifting feature of a conventional automatic gearbox, but anyone who tries a real paddle shifted manual will eventually see that this is where shifting is going in the future ,and the time will come where you will not be able to buy a conventional manual anymore. Until that time, I'll stick with my automatic aero and I guess my "unsafe" driving according to the previous poster.
