Ive never been a big fan of onstar, and I always resented being forced to have it on 2001-2003 saabs. A solution involving my existing cellphone that doesnt take $30+ out of my wallet each month is much preferable.
I would like to see a bluetooth hands free system, with some sort of expanded in car interface that can allow for airbag deploy to call a number with GPS notification of where you are, and remote unlocking (if you stand right outside the car) and maybe a breakdown service with OBD2 diagnostics. The cellular operator of your choice would add these extended services as you choose, or you just get the basic hands free calling.
You can add an optional dvd Nav system for directions.
For those who like to be told where to go by someone in India, or actually buy tickets or book seats or any of that other unlikely hokum OnStar offers, a concierge service would be just another optional paid for offering.
