I can speak directly to two of those...Sport M3's on the Aero, Blizzak WS-50s on the LPT.
I put Blizzaks on the LPT because that car lives at the top of a gravel hill, does all in-town trips, and is expected to roll in any conditions. My mother is also usually driving. The Blizzak excels at these things, but it sacrifices most/all dry handling to do it. Since the car sees next to no highway, it wasn't an issue.
I put the M3's on the Aero because that car is the long-distance cruiser and spends much time on the highway. They trade off a little slop handling for a ton of dry handling. At least, I assume they do -- I've been waiting two seasons for the 'tradeoff' shoe to drop, but they haven't yet failed to perform really well in winter conditions.
I'd probably do the Blizzaks in Rochester, although if you get a lot of choice in when you drive, and do many highway miles, you could probably do either. For deep snow, make absolutely sure you get the narrowest tire you can get, I think that's 195 on most 9-5s (Aero is probably 205).
