I have been researching which snow tire to put on my 01 SE. I live just outside NYC but regularly go to upstate NY for skiing (I'm on the ski patrol there). I've done a lot of research on the web and, from what everyone says, Nokian is currently making the best snow tire out there. They supposedly handle well on dry pavement and exceptionally well on snow/ice.
I've decided on the WRs since I don't need to stud the tire and, from what I can tell, they should be more than sufficient for the type of driving I'll do during the winter. Also, they're not going to wear down as quickly on dry pavement and I'll drive on my share of dry pavement during the winter months.
If you're not concerned about studding your tire the WRs may be a better choice (depending on where you live, of course). They're both the same price.
