Loose headbolts. All engines from this era should be retorqued to prevent this problem. It is gamble or retorque to be sure. Properly torqued head bolts do not have these common gasket failures.

I've read with great interest the postings on head bolt retorque, esp. the experience of Swedecar that virtually all 9-5s that he's checked have loose bolts.
I have had no recent oil leak problems with my 2000 9-5 lpt and am not sure if I should retorque to stave off future leaks or probs. What's prevailing practice amongst the more enlightened 9-5 owners? Is retorque common for asymptomatic cars? Advice, please.

But you did not want to be reminded. Perhaps this will motivate others. I am glad to hear that you have CPO warranty. At least this expense is going to fall on Saabs shoulders. But often the owner is stuck expense$.
