If there's even a small problem with a Saab, it's well documented on these BB's. Pulley issues primarily refer to the V6 with it's timing belts and Aeros have never had the V6, only the 2.3 HOT four.
Coil failure is one of the most common problems on any brand of car as modern cars have the coils next to the plugs and exposed to the heat of the engine. With Saab 2.3 fours it's all in one cassette, the infamous DIC.
Later model DIC's are supposed to have been upgraded with with better hardware and better software.
Despite the "DIC gloomers" as I call them, Saab 9-5's have truly outstanding reliability and durability. Never has one been able to purchase such a unique car with such outstanding reliability that's recommended by consumer magazines that normally only endorse Jap cars. Saab has also done very well in JD Powers rankings.
