Hey everyone,

I've been digging around the archives, and I'm thinking that this may be my problem -- before I go to my local independent and have him check this out, I thought I'd run it by you all.

99 2.3LPT wagon. 75k miles. Original DIC. Has had some occasional recent problems with not starting when hot. Turns over, sometimes even seems to "catch" but won't stay running for more than a half second. In the past I've had success just taking the key out and trying again. Last time that didn't work -- but somehow I was able to start it by opening the throttle all the way as soon as it "caught". Kept me from being ironically stuck in an Ikea parking lot.

I've for a long time had long start times (when tank below 1/4 tank)and also very rough , "surging" starts when car is warm and backing out of the driveway, etc.

A couple of weeks ago it died in the middle of an intersection, wouldn't start (or even turn over) for two minutes, then just started as if nothing had happened. Took it to the most highly regarded indy here in San Diego, and they couldn't find anything.

So given this mix of symptoms, I've thought maybe fuel pump, maybe ignition switch/switch wires, etc. But after lots of reading lately, I'm wondering if it's not the CPS.

Any thoughts? Troubleshooting with my mechanic hasn't gotten me too far yet, but I want to bring it in "fully armed" next time to make sure we can track this down.

Wife wants to sell it, as it's the nanny/her drive the baby around car and she doesn't want them to get stuck somewhere.

Pat
