Wouldn't turn over? Posted by Ari [Email] (#2847) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Ari) on Wed, 29 Nov 2000 13:01:07 In Reply to: Fuel Pump or something else?, Bryan [Profile/Gallery] , Wed, 29 Nov 2000 12:07:09 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
To quote from your post:
"...Only this time I waited and waited and it never would turn over. .."
Did it really not turn over, or did it turn over (starter motor runs) but just not start?
If it really, truly didn't turn over, I would suspect an ignition switch problem. The switch heats up and the connection gets bad, then it quits.
If you really meant to say it turned over but didn't catch, I would follow up on George's Hall effect sensor idea.
A quick test of the hall effect sensor/ignition amp: does the tach needle bounce during start? If so, the primary and ignition amp are working. If not, suspect the ignition amp and/or hall effect sensor.
To energize the fuel pump- open the fuse box, and jumper between fuses 27
and 30 (900). You should hear the pump run (this will happen even with the key OFF). No noise, then check the wiring to the pump, or the pump itself.
Good luck!
