Is it an 8valve or a 16? If 16, I would suspect it to be the valve cover and on the inside edges if you cant see where it's coming from. There is a drain slot in the casting between the Cams at the flywheel end (way down in the wells by the plugs. If it leaks in there and works it's way along the casting to the drain it looks as though it was a head gasket 'cause it's only a fraction of an inch to the block surface anyway. Besides it usually pretty cruddy and well hidden from view, easy to mistake.
A head gasket would have to be a pressurized leak and you would see alot more oil than 8-10 drops over night. Is the underside of the car wet? as in being blown back during driving? Then maybe you could have a bad leak. Otherwise clean it up real good and watch where it's coming from before stuffing close to a grand into it. please Post again with where the leak seems to be and where the drops fall on the floor, engine type and anything else that could be worth noting.
