First of all, mods cost money. This car is old and probably has a lot of miles - do as the other guy said and make sure the car is in tip-top shape before you start in with "mods." If it is in good shape, don't beat on it and try to make it into a car it isn't. If you want something to drag race and treat like a mustang, buy a mustang. Saabs were not meant to be "performance" cars in the American sense of the word, but comfortable highway cars; the turbo added to give the old 4 cylinder enough power to feel like a bigger engine while returning good fuel economy - not to take to the race track. 900s are getting old, if it is respected it will last a long time, certainly longer than the present owners. If they are constantly bought by people who want to see how fast they will go rather than preserve them and appreciate them, it will be a shame not to see them on the road in a few years. I'm sure 15 years ago there were plenty of people who thought "there are enough 96s on the road, who cares how I take car of the one I own." Now I couldn't find a 96 to save my life.
I just don't think it will ever be as fast as you want it to be. And if it is, your tranny will die on you and the car will end up being sold for parts soon there after. I see it all the time. Nothing personal, my blasting is over.
Greg
