Help--Battery drains overnight

1989 900 16V non-t
My battery drains overnight. With the ignition off and the key out and nothing "on" the car is drawing between 38.5 and 70 mA of current (it fluctuates)--is this normal or is there a short circuit somewhere running down the battery?
The Bentley manual warns not to leave your key in the ignition because it will draw 40mA and eventually drain the battery. Do I perhaps have a bad ignition switch?
Battery doesn't seem all that strong. If I turn on the interior dome light for 30 seconds the battery voltage drops from say 12.70V to 12.40. Put the headlights on for a minute and voltage drops below 12V...dead. I took the battery back to _Sears_ and they "load tested" it and said it was good. I have my doubts. It doesn't seem like it should drain so fast.
Alternator and charging system does recharge the battery and tests out OK.
Any idea what my problem is? Weak battery or bad ignition switch or short circuit?
In the mean time, I just leave the battery disconnected if I park the car for more than a few hours.
THanks--Jim
