I disgree about changing trans fluid for two reasons. 1) The synchros wear and deposit soft metal into the oil, this oil moves, and my logic says that this soft metal can then get into bearings and doesn't seem to be what you want running through your bearing surfaces. 2) Years ago I read some oil performance test info, one of the tests was for the oil properties that provide impact type protection as in gear mesh, this was the property that broke down faster than others. Saab has used engine oil, and it is not primary for engine oil to work for impact type wear. I am also a full believer in the " You can't change it too often, but you can definitely not change it often enough. The trans oil is in the 'crankcase' thus gets a lot of heat from the engine, contributing to breakdown, and there is no trans oil filter. Though evidently in the last few years of c900 they put a small screen on the differential cover. I would recommend changing it often enough that it never looks dirty or burned or has noticeable 'metal flake'. I use Redline MTL and my 87T now has 45K on a trans that my mechanic gave a "looks OK but" opinion on when I bought it.
