Hi,
As you all know the Midwest just has been getting dumped on by snow...especially here in MN...Minneapolis in specific. I just bought a set of SPG rims for my 85 900t that came with 205/55...NOT a good winter choice! But they came with the rims, the fronts were in great shape and the backs decent(350 all together). So...I looked for a brand name on the tires, all it says is "Classics" radials....what brand is this...they are amazing. I heard all this talk about how bad an idea it is to use 205/55 radials on a Saab in the winter, but they WORK! I mean there is a huge hill going away from my house and a stop sign start up a hill to get to my house...and I can make it up BOTH and around the area with NO problem! I even tried to get it to fish tale around some corners and had NO luck. We just got a good 10+ inches of snow and it handled it wonderfully! I don't get it, I am just amazed that it can make it through 10+ inches of fresh snow, day after the storm and storm condition snow with little trouble. Especially with no name "Classic" tires and in the size 205/55 on them! GO SAAB! Other than the snow plow effect I really lucked out on these wheels and tires...does anyone know anything about these tires?! I am going home for the holidays to Duluth, we'll see how my mom's 88 900t with almost new Hakkas 185/65 (150 for the set) compares to my 85 900t no names at 205/55...I'm guessing the Hakka's will win. Just wanted to share my cool experience, hopefully w/o hexing myself! I just wasn't expecting such performance...
Ttyl,
-Kurt
