Hey y'all. Just thought I'd let you know that it's a piece of cake to remove the oil pressure relief valve from under the car- but it really sucks to put it back in. Things that go sproing and pop apart in inaccessible places really suck.
I'm replacing the harmonic balancer (for the second time- buy new!) and thought I'd pull off the oil pump and replace the o-ring- and hey, why not pull out the relief and have a look at that too... whoops. I ended up pressing the plug in against the spring with a 3 foot 3/8 extension through the driver's side steering rack hole while screwing it in with a hacked off and ground thin 17 mm wrench from below. Must have looked pretty funny.
At least I'm in the shop today, I spent 3 hours in the cold, cold parking lot changing the clutch slave cylinder yesterday. So I could drive it to the shop and do the harmonic balancer... sheesh. Maybe a new saab wouldn't be so bad.
Anybody know a likely candidate for sluggish/hesitant throttle response when the motor's cold? It runs fine hot, but when cold it acts like it can only sorta tell you've pressed the gas pedal all the way to the floor. I'm suspecting the AMM, any thoughts?
