I used a 5/64" drill (c. .078" overall), carefully centered it on the tiny platinum center electrode with the plug clamped by its metal body in a small vice), and then brought the side electrodes in from opposite sides, two at a time, with a pliers. The resulting gap is still a bit over .040", but the car runs beautifully now -- before the regapping it had a bit of a hesitation tendency when the +4 plugs were installed. If your eyes are past retirement age, like mine, you'll probably need a magnifier to do it evenly.
