Steering wheel compatability?

Trying to determine if a pre-airbag steering wheel will fit my '90 900 w/ airbag. I've always had the SRS light on (pulled the bulb years ago) and now have lost the horn. If I pull a pre-airbag wheel can I use the horn contact ring too? Or should I just drop the $150 for the horn contact ring for the airbag'd wheel and hope the bag is still good? It's a loss of potential safety w/out the airbag, but dangerous without a horn. Many thanks.
