As George says, most likely the ignition module. Try this - crank the engine and look at the tachometer. Does the needle bounce, or does it just lie there? If it just lies there, then the problem is either the ignition module or Hall effect sensor in the distributor. The tach gets its signal from the ignition module, which also supplies the coil. If the needle bounces, then I might think about the coil.
Bet the tach needle stays quiet.
