About Grossman Suzuki, not Modern Tire
Grossman was advertising a off-lease '97 900, 32K miles for $17K. I called, verified the mileage and price, and drove down to Old Saybrook (a 40 minute drive). I get there, and the price on the car is $18.5, and it has 48K miles. Interestingly, there is 32K on the car parked to its right, and a $17K sticker on the car to its left. I guess they were splitting the difference. The salesman says that he's sure they could work something out. Yeah, right. The car has 2K miles left on the warrantee, not 18K, and they're asking $1500 more than advertised.

I figured I'd give the car a drive, having already blown my evening. Nice enough driver, although I believe that Uncle Harold died in the backseat, and they didn't find him for two weeks. The car reeked. The salesman told me that their Saab Certified technician had gone over the car with a fine toothed comb. Well, maybe the car's hair was well combed, but the tech obviously never looked in the engine compartment. The oil cooler was pouring oil all over, and from the look of it, had been doing so for a while. If they can miss something like that (look Honey, we've got a gusher!), I hate to think what else they missed.

I left the place pissed. Classic bait and switch, and for a car in poor condition. Yes, this may be an isolated incident, but I personally wouldn't trust them with fixing a bottle opener.
