Shifter problem- 5th and reverse. Posted by Walt [Email] (#2707) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Walt) on Sun, 14 Jan 2001 19:42:58 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I occasionally have problems getting the shifter into reverse and 5th gear on my '88 base. I just rebuilt the trans myself, seemed to shift fine on the bench. I followed the recommended procedure to adjust the shift coupler, tho without using the SAAB special tool #(whatever) , and adjusted the reverse lock out pin to the recommended 22 mm. Otherwise car drives fine, shifter feels pretty lousy (compared to the Hurst shifter in my old Ford). Had some difficulty before the rebuild too, tho car wasn't running when I got it. Ignition switch doesn't lock out either.
So I assume my next step is to remove and disassemble the whole shifter housing....is this fixable, or should I just replace it?
Thanks again,
Walt
