With the arc coming from the wire boot, i figured maybe a bad connection. I had been reusing an old big NGK boot (that covers the other terminals) and if may not have allowed a great connection to the ign. coil. Put the original bougicord boot on, cleaned all the contacts and all is well again.
One question, what do the other teminals do? - one is a ground (black), the others are a blue and white, and a green. They are no longer covered by the big boot and are now exposed to the slop.
Could a bad wire connection from dist. to coil cause poor ignition resulting in bad gas milage and acceleration? I swear it felt a bit peppier - for a non turbo....
