whale tail - what do the SAS buyers think?

Working in the install for my new SAS whale tail. This Whaletail is not a turn-key or bolt on project. First, the fiberglass was not wrapped very well which resulted in dings, dents, etc. I think UPS was partially to blame too, but they have denied my damage claim.
Second, the fiberglass is finished unevenly or ununiformly, showing sanding scratches and molding imperfections, etc, which is going to require additional prep work.
I am also having to significantly resand the edging running along the edge of the window so it will even seat properly. In other words the circumstance of this edge is to narrow and i am having to reshape by sanding (filing). AS delivered. the closest I could get her to sit is almost an inch below the glass molding.
The directions are good, although they do not mention the possible need to do the above. SAS is very professional and volunteered to repair the shipping damage for me, but is is just not worth the UPS oversized shipping and the wait. I recogonize that they have a unique product and i was never expecting OEM quality anyway.
Once I can get it seated properly, I will then drill the screw holes into the tail by using the exsisting hatch holes as my guide. The directions state, and i agree, best to get it perfectly mounted, then loosen the screws back and paint while off the car.
I would like to know the thoughts of the other "five" buyers or anyone else who has installed one of these.
