Two close calls and one tow. I bought my 91 900s knowing it needed a good bit of work, but I got her cheap, the body is in great condition, the mileage was low and I needed a new hobby.
Once she overheated while stuck in afternoon traffic. The primary fan motor died and I hadn't rewired to use the second yet. Got to the sholder in the nick of time and let her cool down for about half an hour. By then the traffic jam had dissipated and the autumn evening heat dissipation allowed me to get home just under the red. "New" motor from the junkyard the next day and back in service.
Second close call happened while pulling in to pick up the other half of my carpool on the way in to work. As I pulled into his parking lot, steam started pouring fourth. The hose to the heater valve had popped off. Walked down the street to pick up some distilled water, tightened the hose back down and was back under way without missing out on the rush hour fun.
The only real stranding incident was when the alternator died, also on the way into work. Had enough momentum to roll into a parking spot in my friends apartment complex and watched a DVD until the tow truck showed up.
Hopefully all that is behind me now... ;)
