You've get a good chance of winding up with coolant in your oil if you don't have it already. Obviously, having water and antifreeze in your lubrication system can have really terrible effects--raising the oil/water volume too high and also messing up the lubricating properties of the oil. Although you MIGHT be able to drive it awhile without significant damage, there is some risk. If you're going to fix it anyway, just do it now and avoid risk damaging anything else. And if it's any consolation, there are no good Saab indie shops where I live, so I had to pay $1,550 for my head gasket job.
