The line has to cross the elastomer barrier. This can only be seen when the A/C pulley is removed (irritating 10mm wrench on three bolts, can be felt easier than seen). The twin alternator grooves and power steering groove are machined into the outer part of the harmonic balancer. The center part of the balancer is bolted to the crankshaft. There should be just enough room to swipe a piece of chalk across the outer annulus and hit the inner annulus with the a/c pulley removed. Then, of course, you need to incur the screech, probably run the car w/o the a/c pulley and belt for a few days.

I believe if you check the balancer then you will see the line has parted.
