This is a very difficult thing to do in your own garage, but, I'd do it again anyway...
...but, what may be more realistic is preping the car yourself and taking it to a professional to shoot it. If you remove all of the emblems, bumpers, door handles, locks, wipers, spoilers, and trim, sand it, fill in the dings and scratches etc., and finally mask everything you can, that will cut down on your bill tremendously.
The cost of the paint is quite high today due to the chemical make-up of the paints, clears, catalyst agents, etc. You're only looking at 4 quarts to shoot a car of this size though, and, colors make a difference. Reds, oranges, and yellows are the most expensive because the pigment cost is high. Blues, greens, and whites are cheapest. Materials along will run you $400 or so plus the labor, but, if you prep it, you keep that bill down. Pros love to shoot cars, the prep work is long and tedious. You'll also want a pro to polish the color out and remove all of the orange peel that is inherent with spraying a car.
By the way, Saab may have used Sikkens, or more likely BASF Diamont. A local guy could use those or DuPont or PPG, or Sherwin Williams....whatever he is comfortable.
