There are a few possibilities causing the problem. One could be a dirty throttle plate. Cleaning the throttle plate will raise idle back to normal. You may want to set your base idle. Warm up the car to operating temperature. The unscrew the air bleed screw on the throttle body until you get 1,200 rpm. If you cant reach that high then turn the throttle stop screw in until 1,200 rpm is met. Then screw the air bleed screw in until you have 1,000 rpm. Lock both air bleed screw and throttle stop screw. Finally you may have a faulty AC high idle valve. This valve raises the idle when the compressor switches on to copensate for the added load.
