Clutch compatibility question

Will the clutch assembly (slave, pressure plate, etc.) from a '89 900 Turbo fit on a non-turbo '89 900? I recall reading somewhere that the only difference between turbo and non-turbo clutches is the grip strength of the pressure plate, because the turbo has more horsepower... thus making the turbo clutches more expensive. From this assumption the clutch WOULD transfer with no problems, but a local mechanic believes it won't because the turbo clutch is bigger... hmmm....
Also, the bolts on the slave cylinder are 8mm... not the hex-key as is described in my Haynes manual. But, one of the heads is stripped so bad that the 8mm just slips with no grip, but a 7mm is still too big. I tried a metal file, but I can't get enough metal shaved off to get the 7mm to fit on. What would be the best approach to getting the bolt off? I've tried vice grips, and other things... there just isn't enough room to work with down there. I don't need the bolt, I just need to get the clutch out of the car. (It is a brand new clutch with less than 100 miles, but the engine caught on fire ... heh)
The non-turbo 900 has a terrible clutch slip. I know the clutches on these cars are easy to DIY, especially with the motivation to save the $527 that the mechanic wants to do it... But I really want to just use the brand new clutch off the turbo saab, since then the whole repair would be free.
