What year is this model?

As some of you might already know, John Gardner (the author who took over writing the James Bond novels after Ian Fleming died) had his literary Bond drive a Saab 900 Turbo with water injection system and many other additions "Q" added (a feature not mentioned on the website which WAS mentioned in the books is the ability to slowly dim the taillights so that persuing cars would think that Bond is pulling further and further away from them at night. Bond would also turn off his headlights and use night vision goggles, making it hard to persue!). This car was actually built (I guess for PR purposes) and now resides at the Saab museum in Trollhattan. See the link I'm attaching below for details and pictures. I'm not as familiar with the European models of the car, so I can't tell from the headlights and other features what year this 900 was. The car was obviously right-hand drive. The headlights would indicate it's newer than 1987 if it were a North-American model, but I think the Euro headlamps were different than the North-American ones in the mid-80's. The steering wheel looks like an older one than the one in my '85, but I could be wrong. So what I'm asking is if anyone can hazard a guess at what model year was used as the platform for James Bond's Saab? Also, someone get me the Saab part number for the head-up display!
