During that 3 week period of running w/o assist-life was pretty rough on me and my Saab. We covered a lot of miles and the wear could very likely have been due to any one of a gazillion reasons- slower and non-linear steering motions seemed a likely culprit to my mechanic. It might also have been the 32 & 28 foot extension ladders on the roof rack, the painting equipment, or the cross-country trip over 2 days. But the fronts were looking more ragged than the rears, and were only like 6k old.
The main thing out of that experience is that even amid all sorts of trouble, the Saab kept on trucking and I never worried once about whether or not she would get me home. Tragedy always brings people (and cars:) closer and now i cannot bear to part with her.

PS I love this board- provides great entertainment during work and great source of info when needed:)
