it's probably broken. Just a thought. You can go far just shimming it, you shim the U shaped bumper, maybe a piece of plywood or rubber or metal bolted to the existing holes with carriage bolts.
You can check motor mount play certainly by having a helper let the clutch out - in gear - with the brakes on . Don't stall, but you will be able to see the engine rise up if the mount is broken.
Sorry if this is off-topic, there are other possibilities, shifter alignment, etc... others that I'm not thinking of off the top of my head
