Call or email sobstory and get a new catalytic converter, I believe they are available in Kelly Green. Jim will also have all the nuts, bolts and assembly parts you need. The nuts up at the manifold will be rusty and tight, but with a good overnight soaking with PB Blaster or Liquid Wrench, they should come off OK. Corrosion may have shrunk the nuts so that you might have to use(pound on) a smaller 6 point socket or a vise grip to loosen them. You do not want to break the studs in the manifold outlet, if you can help it! Wear glasses to keep the rust out of your eyes and a hat to keep it out of your hair. Once you get the cat free at the manifold, you can lower the exhaust enough so that you can get better access to the nuts fastening the tailpipe/muffler to the cat flange. These nuts may need to be cut off with a hacksaw or a dremel tool.
The whole removal process will take an hour or two depending on how lucky you are with frozen nuts. Installation of the new cat will take one half hour. Use anti-seize paste on the studs and fasteners, so when you need a new muffler the job will be easier.
Now you will know why you don't ever want a job at Midas!!!
