I have a 89 900 Turbo 900 convertible, when I accelerate the A/C shuts down til I reach a crusing speed then it comes back on. Other guys online say that this model has a switch on it to take the system offline to provide more HP to the engine during this acceleration point, then it kicks its back on.

I don't buy this, I have had too many of these cars to buy in to this, however, if this is true can I bypass this switch so the A/C is on when I have the system on? If so where is this switch and how can I bypass it?
