I share your pain. Been there recently.
Assuming the REST of the system is in order:
Get down on your knees
Take a deep breath
(maybe a couple beers before you start)
Grab the clutch pedal with your favored hand (l/r)
PUMP LIKE HELL!!! Until you start to get some pedal.
I had the same feeling when I did mine and it takes a LLLLOOOONNNGGG time to get any joy out of the thing. I replaced the cylinder.
It will eventually come up THEN you can start bleeding it, IF, the slave is OK.
It doesn't react like the brake system
