Cooling Fan is Killing me Posted by Adam [Email] (#344) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Adam) on Tue, 19 Jun 2001 19:38:53 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
For 6 months, since I bought my used '93 900s I can not get the cooling fan to engage on a regular basis. The dealer who I bought the car from assures me that the 900's run warm before the fan kicks in. Consequently I have had to depress the AC button on the dash, to engage the second fan. That works fine for pottering around my area.
I have brought the car in twice to the dealer. Each time I call at around 12 and say
"How's it going did you find anything?"
"Well Mr. Adam we have both fans running right now, no problem"
So I think OK maybe it is OK now. My girl friend and I jump in on a hot day in June, to go camping a couple of hours way. We fill the car. Crank on the AC and head up the garden state park way. It's nice and cool. I look at the dial and it's running right in to the orange. We pull over I lift the hood a couple of minutes later the cooling kicks in with sceond fan that was running with the AC on. To continue on our journey I have to turn off the AC, open the windows and watch as the needle tries to climb into the orange. Every 20 minutes we stop and let it cool down. I think I hear a cliclking noise, maybe the fan is trying to kick in. I wait and sure as shit it comes on.
What do you think? I have replaced the sensor in the radiator but besides that what are my choices? Help
PS I am not rich
