To check wheel bearing jack the car up (brakes off, neutral) and spin each wheel by hand. (The brakes will drag a little bit and maybe make a little noise, that's normal.) Listen for the growling/grinding noise. Put your hands at 12 and 6 on the tire and try to shake for looseness. There should be none. Do all wheels feel and sound the same when you spin them? After driving is one wheel hub much hotter than the others? Uneven tire wear?
A stuck brake caliper would make some noise, but also cause a pulling to left or right.
If the car is a manual is the sound different in different gears as compared to neutral? How about driving in gear pushing on the gas as compared to foot off the gas? If so, that could be transmission bearing problems (not good).
You can try switching front and rear wheels, any change in the sound? A very bad tire might cause you problems.
We can pin point it further from there...
