Do you mean the brakes clunck when you first apply them while going backwards? If so, it's not a problem. Most pre 1988 900s do this, and it's nothing to worry about.
It's due to movement of the sliding youlk on the caipers. It can be fixed, temporarily, by building up the metal on the calipers, and grinding back to shape. But, imho, it's not worth it, since the clunck will come back in a few thousand miles.
