You donot need to pull the engine to reset the timing chain. The tensioner needs to be relaxed. A long narrow bladed flat tipped screwdriver does the trick. If you look down inside the engine you will see a square opening on the tensioner body. There is a "button" that needs to be pushed inorder to release tension. Use the screwdriver to push the button to release tension. The you can install the chain/gear on the cam.
SAAB did offer a chrome grille for the pre 87 900s. I would have to dig up the part number.
The best way to remove the shift knob is to remove the shifter from the car. Clamp the shift stick in a vise and use two screwdrivers to lever the knob off.
