I did this. No problems. Now both fans go on together but of course none run once ignition turned off. Formerly the AC fan would run when engine off. One final item was i installed a tiny light in the passenger area wired into the fan electrical to inform me when the fans were running. Very comforting, esp in hot weather. Mine was an 85 and eventually i bought an oversized radiator and now i never have cooling concerns.
