In the cold weather the rubber piston seals harden up and allows fluid to seep by. Kind of like a syringe with a bad seal. When it warms up the seals start working and your clutch works. The master cylinder is very easy to replace. THe problem is many people have stated that after replacing the master, the slave cyl. goes bad within a few weeks. THat's an urban legend so I can't back it up. A bad slave cylinder will leak fluid so you can look for that.
