because it changes the resistance that the other emission contols/ECUs parts are reading, they also said that care should be taken to keep the spliced wires the same length as stock for the same reason. Either a soldered connection has come loose or you may have caused a resistance change. I always use solderless connectors and shrink wrap and have someone hold the harness and spin it as I reinstall the part to avoid pulling anything apart. Never had a problem.
