If a "project" is what you are after, then it is definitely doable, as others suggest. I just wanted to chime in, saying that I just bought a 1985 900 Turbo last week that the previous owner had spent OVER $15,000 on performance enhancements/upgrades/restoration/maintenance. I payed $3000 for the car (I LOVE THE THING!!!). But it just goes to show that you shouldn't expect to get ANYTHING out of what you put into it, performance wise.

btw, this is an interesting topic since I now have MY 1993 900S up for sale after purchasing the '85 Turbo. There were 2 reasons for my reverting back to this older SAAB, 1) the 1993 900S was a DOG (especially after driving a '99 9-3 turbo), and 2) it didn't have a sunroof. I truly think my '85 Turbo is faster than my Turbo 9-3!! But as I said, there is $15,000 dropped into her for performance and repairs...
