About PIR, a friend of mine races a mid 80's Shelby Charger in a novice bracket (not exactly sure of the event/name at this time). Its pretty much just for fun. What I would do is just race the clock unless I'd get into it as much as he. There are also a few clubs that you can join that have race days at PIR or large parking lots, i.e. the Porsche Club, which dosent mind an extra few bucks for us non-porsh owners. I go out with the porsche club occasionally right now. I'd take the '87 to PIR but after seeing an M3 slide off the course I think I'll keep my daily driver on city streets, or between cones in parking lots when the Porsche Club autocrosses.
Thanks for the info on the differences between the two. I'll email you after I get the old '80 and let you know whats up. I'll also type in some info about the autocross if your at all interested.
