Okay,
In my 1991 900S HB, the previous owner attempted (unsuccessfully, I think) to install a new fancy stereo, amplifier, and speakers. I got the car without the stereo, amp, and rear speakers, but the owner neglected to remove the huge cables that run down the length of the car and under the seat. Ah well. My issue is this: I'm currently installing a Sony CD/receiver (a 2-year old CDX-1300 from my mom's totaled 900, for reference) and neither the gray memory wire nor the red power wire that goes on when the key's at the "ACC" position are carrying power.
The owner apparently routed a new, heavier duty power wire from engine compartment that runs up into the dash and when I hold it, the wire for switched ACC power from the stereo side, and the stereo's power in together, the stereo works. However, no combination of the factory gray and red wires when connected to the stereo will make it work. I assume that he must have cut the gray and red wires somewhere along the way. Is there anyone who's got any idea what he might have done or where he might have cut the wires (i.e. where's a convenient place)? I took up the floor console to take a look down by the ignition, but I don't see anything abnormal.
Thanks for any ideas,
Tim B.
