IronJoe,
use the original bumper end from the side opposite the side you paln to trim as a template by placing them top edge to top edge. The raised portion at the wheel well will prevent you from getting them flush. This will aloow you to see how much needs to be cut off. The section to be removed should taper down from back to front.
You will have to remove the spring clips that help secure the mounting rail to the panel. Remove the mounting rail. Measure the the height of raised sections where the screws for the mounting rail pass through the panel. Transfer those measurements to the SPG panel and trim accordingly.
Remounting the rail required fabrication of sheet metal brackets shaped like this
*****___
**__/ \__ (I hope that shows up)
These bracket were placed over the rail mounting post of the panel and pop riveted in place. Spring clips were reinstalled and AutoZone stick-on door edge trim attached to the top edge. A crack in my rear bumper cover prevents the passenger side from fitting tightly against the body, but the driver's side fits nicely. I'll get around to replacing that bumper cover sooner or later. Hope that helps.
