After reading down the list of diatribes I must put my thoughts down. I currently own both a classic Saab and a Honda (900, CRX). I have found myself included in two of the most passionate car fraternities on the net.
Why don't people respect Saabs?
-I think that most people do. My parents owned a 900T when I was in high school and most of my friends hated it (opinions changed upon riding in it). I agree with the post about Saabs being "yuppy" cars, however, I have found that the classic 900s have become an almost cult car on college campuses and the cities in which they lie. I have driven a lot of cars in my short life, including high-end German cars, and classic 900s have the most appeal (to me:).
As for the Honda debate. Hondas make great cars, but I wouldn't be caught dead in a 1980-1993 Accord. My CRX is probably the most fun car that I have ever driven. I purchased it 2 years ago after my VW Rabbit nearly fell apart (another GREAT car). This past fall I found an'88 Saab and bought it (couldn't resist now that I have a regular income). Driving it for the first time was like being home and I like it better than the CRX.
In summation; different strokes for different folks.
