I haven't had either good or bad luck, just excellent results in Saabs for the last 25 years. AMSOIL is recognized within the lubricants industry as the leader, and it is the best available.
I have changed over many cars to AMSOIL with 100,000 miles (and some with over 200K). Yep, I can recall 3 or 4 which developed leaks. However, synthetic oils do not CAUSE leaks!!!!! If you have an existing bad seal/gasket, held together by gunk, changing to synthetic (or changing brands of non-synthetic) can cause the gunk to wash away. And then you will find the leaks.

In your car, AMSOIL 5W-30 or 10W-30 will have a service life of 1 year (or 25,000 miles), with an AMSOIL oil filter change at 12,500 or 6 months.
If cold starts are a concern, the synthetic pours at much lower temperatures. If high temperatures are a concern, the synthetics will drop the oil temperatures as much as 20-50 degrees F under load. If reduced wear is of concern, synthetic will decrease it by 80-90% (or more).
If you don't like to be crawling under the car all the time to change oil, AMSOIL is the answer. If you can't find it in your heart to run longer than 3,000 miles, start using oil samples and prove it to yourself (it's been proven for the last 30 years already). I do recommend you look for existing leaks first--it might be best to either fix them or stick to dumping cheap stuff on the driveway. If you do change, be sure to use the engine flush.
